The Brewer's Tale

Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat was founded at Breendonk, near Puurs, in 1871. The beer that became Duvel was created after the First World War and reworked into its golden form by the 1970s — its name is Flemish for ‘devil’, a nod to its strength.
The Pour
A Belgian strong golden ale: pale gold beneath a towering white head, with pear and citrus fruit, peppery spice, a delicate bitterness and a warming, dry 8.5% finish. Serve cool in its tulip glass.
The Devil's Detail
Bottle-conditioned with a long cold maturation and two fermentations, Duvel pours deceptively pale for its strength — hence the name.
