The Beer
Cape Verde Islands · Group HLight Cape Verdean lager brewed for warm climates. The archipelago's ‘star’: a pale, crisp island lager brewed with volcanic-spring water — light, clean and made for the Atlantic sun.
The Brewer's Tale
HeritageThe Brewery
Strela — Cape Verdean Creole for ‘star’ — was launched in 2006 by CERIS in Praia, on the island of Santiago, replacing the older Coral brand.
CERIS is part of the Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company, and Strela is now the islands' best-loved beer.
The Pour
A pale island lager brewed with deep volcanic-spring water: bright straw-gold, light-bodied, grainy-sweet with a crisp, lightly mineral finish.
The Islands' Star
From Sal's beach bars to Santiago's corner shops, Strela is Cape Verde's default order — a small marker of national pride, best shared as a ‘litro’ at sundown.
At The Table
With Cape Verdean food: cachupa, fresh grilled fish, pastel and salty corn snacks.
