The Brewer's Tale

Heritage

The Brewery

Efes Pilsen launched in 1969, soon after private brewing was re-legalised in Turkey, from plants opened by the Anadolu Group in Izmir and Kayseri. The name nods to the ancient city of Ephesus (Efes).

Anadolu Efes has been Turkey's market-leading brewer since the 1980s and exports worldwide.

The Pour

A German-style pilsner: bright gold, a lightly sweet, crackery malt and grassy-floral noble hops over a smooth body and a crisp, dry close.

The Only True Turkish Beer

Marketed as ‘the only true Turkish beer’, Efes is the default pour from Istanbul's meyhanes to the Aegean coast — and a familiar sight wherever Turkish football travels.

At The Table

A natural with meze and the grill: kebabs, köfte, grilled fish and a spread of cold starters.
